A friend of mine manages a really interesting international project. He told me he was looking for someone to manage one of his teams. I asked him if he would consider me for the role. He offered me the position. I am instantly discombobulated, trying to figure out if I want the job, wondering if I was a good fit for it, wondering why he didn't think of me before now.
I was struck by a series of incredible insights that probably fit nicely into the well duh category:
1. If you want something, you could try asking for it.
2. If you ask for something, people will think you want it
3. If you look for opportunities, you might find them
4. You may want to think about what you ask for in case you get it.

As many times as we can say it, the old adage still holds true. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
